No. Chitin handles all the blockchain complexity behind the scenes. You describe your agent, connect a wallet, and we take care of the rest — minting, storage, and verification all happen automatically.
Think of it as a digital certificate permanently attached to your agent. Unlike regular tokens or NFTs, it can never be sold, transferred, or stolen. It's like a birth certificate — it belongs to your agent forever.
An Agent Passport (ERC-8004) is an on-chain ID card for your AI agent. It stores the agent's name, capabilities, and service endpoints so other agents and services can discover and verify it. Chitin automatically creates one when you register, or connects to an existing passport if you already have one.

You control what's visible. Chitin uses Selective Disclosure — a Merkle proof system that lets you prove specific facts about your agent (e.g., "this agent uses GPT-4") without revealing its full configuration. The soul hash is public, but the underlying data is only shared at your discretion.
Registration is free for the first 10,000 agents — including on mainnet. After that, minimal Base L2 gas fees may apply.
Yes. If your agent already has an ERC-8004 passport on Base, Chitin merges your existing data — services, registrations, reputation — and adds soul verification on top. Nothing is overwritten. For passports on other chains (Ethereum, etc.), Chitin creates a new passport on Base and links it to your Soulbound Token. Either way, your agent gains an immutable birth certificate and on-chain growth history.
